Knoxville, TN – KAT is thrilled to announce that beginning March 9, 2026, 30-minute frequency will return to the following routes:
Since November, KAT has recruited 27 operators who have obtained their Commercial Driver Licenses and completed their hands-on operator training. This has positively impacted our workforce and the ability of KAT to provide reliable transportation on these routes with 30-minute frequency.
“As a result of focused efforts on recruitment and retention, we are excited to return frequency to these routes, “said Isaac Thorne, KAT Executive Director. “We thank everyone for their patience and understanding throughout this adjustment period. We are happy to be able to offer safe, reliable transportation to all Knoxvillians.”
KAT is currently on track to restore full service and frequency to Route 15: Woodland Crosstown and Route 42: Fort Sanders/UT Medical Centers on May 4, 2026.
Beginning Monday, March 9, at 10 a.m., KAT representatives are tabling at Knoxville Station on the bus platform to provide routing information and inform passengers of the increased frequency.
KAT’s customer service professionals stand ready to assist passengers. To plan your trip, please contact Customer Service at 865-215-7800 or download the Transit app for free.
Please note that the Transit App and Google Trip Planner will not reflect these changes until March 9, 2026.
