KAT Hosts Job Fair for New Bus Operators

No experience necessary – eligible new hires receive paid training, including a new 2-week Commercial Driver’s Licence (CDL) Permit prep course.

Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) is seeking driven, dedicated, and community-minded candidates to take the wheel for their future by attending the KAT Bus Operator Job Fair on Saturday, August 19, 2023. This event is the latest in ongoing, active recruiting efforts to help strengthen the KAT workforce. New Operators will help the agency address an industry-wide worker shortage, the main contributing factor to KAT’s current service challenges.

KAT is seeking applicants for 50 open Bus Operator positions, which offers newly increased competitive pay – starting hourly wages of $18.36 – as well as a generous benefits package that provides as much as 30% additional value on top of wages. KAT employees receive health, dental and vision insurance, a retirement plan, paid time off and more. Applicants who possess excellent customer service skills and are interested in seeking employment with options for developing a rewarding career path in the transportation industry are strongly encouraged to attend:

Saturday, August 19, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Knoxville Station Transit Center
301 E Church Ave., Knoxville, TN 37915

“KAT’s mission is to positively impact our community by delivering safe, compassionate, reliable transportation,” said Isaac Thorne, Director of Transit for the City of Knoxville. “We hope to find more people who share our passion for service and for our Knoxville community.”

KAT is offering on-the-spot interviews, and an opportunity to start the pre-employment process for those who qualify. It is important that any candidates bring all the required documents, a list of which can be found at https://katbus.com/event/kat-job-fair/.

Additionally, any candidates unable to attend the job fair can come by KAT’s Magnolia office (1135 E. Magnolia Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917) any Monday or Wednesday in August between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to apply and interview. Again, candidates must bring the required documentation.
