KNOXVILLE, TN – Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) has announced a proposal to make Route 1: Downtown Connector, a zero-fare service as part of a pilot program. The initiative aims to improve downtown access and encourage greater use of public transportation.
The Knoxville Transportation Authority (KTA) will consider the proposal at its upcoming board meeting held on Thursday, October 16, at 3:00 PM. The meeting will take place in the City-County Building’s Main Assembly Room and will include a public hearing, allowing community members to provide their input. If approved, zero-fare service will begin on November 1, 2025.
