Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) Frequency and Routing Updates,
Shuttle Service for Upcoming Events at Neyland Stadium
Knoxville, TN – Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) announces service updates that will provide riders with more frequent trips on Routes 15 and 42, improved connections on Route 20, and new shuttle options to Neyland Stadium for upcoming special events.
Increased Frequency and Route 20
Beginning Monday, May 4, KAT will restore 30-minute service frequency to Route 15: Woodland Crosstown and Route 42: Fort Sanders/UT Medical Centers. Through recruiting efforts, KAT has reached a staffing level that allows for these routes to be restored to their previous frequency, while ensuring all routes are reliable for passengers. KAT Staff will be tabling at Knoxville Station on May 4th to alert passengers of the increased frequency and answer any routing questions. Please note that the Transit App and website will not reflect these changes until May 4th.
Route 20: Central/Clinton Highway will now have service to Callahan Drive, Old Callahan Drive, and Callahan Flats. This new routing will increase access to jobs, resources, and businesses within the city.
Neyland Stadium Shuttle Service
KAT will provide shuttle services to Neyland Stadium for the upcoming Luke Combs: My Kinda Saturday Night Tour on May 2nd and the Savannah Bananas: Banana Ball on May 23rd. These shuttles will operate the same as the Football Shuttle Service. There will be two pick-up locations:
-
Civic Coliseum and Auditorium Garages
-
Market Square at Krutch Park
Those wishing to take the Civic Coliseum and Auditorium shuttle will not purchase a mobile shuttle pass. Instead, there will be a flat fee of $25 for both parking and round-trip shuttle service that will be paid at the time of parking in the garage.
Those planning to utilize the Market Square shuttle will need to download the mobile Transit app and purchase a $10 round-trip “Football Shuttle Pass.” This will generate a QR code to scan when boarding the bus.
Both shuttles will drop off at the Walters Life Sciences Building. Once the event concludes, passengers will board at the Walters Life Sciences Building to return to either Market Square or Civic Coliseum Garages. More information on these shuttles can be found at http://katbus.com/neyland-special-events.
