Service Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for supervising service personnel and quality assurance in the cleaning and servicing of all KAT vehicles, facilities, equipment and passenger amenities.

Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000. per year (dependent on experience and qualifications) Classification: Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assign tasks to section personnel consistent with the Labor/Management memorandum of agreement, company policies and department goals.
  • Lead section personnel in such a manner that promotes good communication, section and department teamwork, cohesion and instills a high standard of customer service and ethical behavior.
  • Supervise service personnel ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and appearance of all KAT vehicles, facilities, and equipment.
  • Supervise service personnel ensuring that all KAT vehicles are serviced every day for proper fuel, engine oil, transmission fluid, hydraulic fluid, diesel exhaust fluid, and antifreeze levels.
  • Supervise service personnel ensuring all vehicle fareboxes are properly probed and revenue collected every day.
  • Prepare, analyze and process automated and manual daily reports ensuring accuracy and complete servicing information of all KAT vehicles and enabling management to fulfill other related maintenance management and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain adequate inventories of supplies for use by section personnel in the service bay. Complete re-order forms and coordinate with the appropriate staff for replenishment of supplies.
  • Direct and supervise service personnel in cleaning the service bay, bus lot, and stormwater inserts on regular basis
  • Maintain and update communication with Lead Supervisor to adjust needs in payroll.
  • Prepare accident and/or incident reports for all section personnel. Fulfill supervisory responsibilities as related to accident investigations and drug testing.
  • Maintain hazard communication information for all department employees.
  • Possess working knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance requirements and enforce compliance with section employees.
  • Maintain Daily/Periodic equipment and Facility checklists for proper operation and functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED, graduation from trade or vocational school. Additional training and experience in leadership skills is highly desirable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess or obtain a State of Tennessee Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger endorsement.
  • Ability to understand and follow written, oral, email, diagram, and schedule-based instructions independently.
  • Ability to apply common sense to develop plans, assign tasks, and resolve issues involving multiple variables.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office and database management/reporting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Knoxville’s streets and highways.
  • Ability to accurately complete both automated and written reports.
  • Ability to build cohesion and promote collaboration in the workplace.
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is routinely required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms to handle, feel, or reach for objects. Frequent activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Occasionally, the employee may need to reach above shoulder level, below the waist, or between waist and shoulder height.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, talk, and hear.
  • The employee may experience repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and the ability to focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts
  • The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The employee may occasionally work in high or precarious places
  • The noise level is usually loud
