Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient transit operations across all service areas. Provides leadership and supervision for transit operators with a focus on safety, customer service, communication, and operational performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide daily supervision of operators, emphasizing safety, customer service, and schedule adherence.
· Assign, monitor, and adjust work assignments as needed to maintain service levels.
· Communicate clearly with operators, OCC, and other departments to ensure effective coordination and service delivery.
· Maintain accurate and timely records for operations, incidents, detours, road calls, and other required reports.
· Support payroll accuracy through proper documentation and time entry verification.
· Conduct or assist with investigations related to accidents, incidents, or customer complaints.
· Collaborate with Maintenance, Safety, and OCC to address service interruptions and ensure timely service changes.
· Participate in run picks, shake-ups, and manpower planning to maintain adequate coverage.
· Support training, coaching, and corrective action processes as directed by management.
· Promote compliance with KAT’s policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
· Respond to field situations, including emergencies, and provide leadership during service recovery efforts.
· Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED required. Prior leadership experience preferred; transit or transportation industry experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other operational systems (such as GMV Syncromatics).
Minimum Requirements
· Valid Tennessee Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement.
· Ability to operate all types of KAT transit vehicles.
· Knowledge of Knoxville’s street system, transit routes, and operating procedures.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work overtime, varying shifts, and respond to operational needs as required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use hands for various tasks. May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Work may occur in office (Window Dispatch/OCC), platform, or field (road) settings and under varied weather conditions. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels depending on assignment.
