JOB DESCRIPTION:
Handles and services all types of tires, including those used on buses, trolleys, vans, cars, and other vehicle classes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Remove wheels and tires, dismount and regroove or replace tires, balance as required, and remount them onto vehicles.
- Maintain all tires at proper and safe air-pressure levels.
- Ensure the tire service area is kept clean, organized, and safe at all times.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date service reports.
- Track tire inventory and replacement tires as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a minimum age of 18
- Possess a valid Tennessee Driver’s License with required endorsements.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional training from manufacturing schools, technical courses, or industry seminars is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of the streets, highways, and roadways throughout metropolitan Knoxville.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedural documents.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate routine reports with written correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply reasoning to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions and to solve problems involving multiple concrete variables within standardized situations.

- The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
