JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform all body and frame repairs to all transit vehicles and any other equipment operated by Knoxville Area Transit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all duties of Class “A” Paint and Bodyshop mechanic with limited supervision, and any other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a minimum age of 18
- Possess a valid Tennessee Driver’s License with required endorsements.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional training from manufacturing schools, technical courses, or industry seminars is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of the streets, highways, and roadways throughout metropolitan Knoxville.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedural documents.
- Ability to operate all equipment owned and used by Knoxville Area Transit.
- Ability to use precision tools and instruments safely and accurately.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate routine reports with written correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with groups and with coworkers.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations; including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply reasoning to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions and to solve problems involving multiple concrete variables within standardized situations.
- Ability to meet all certification and competency standards required for the position.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
