College Programs

KAT's Semester Pass program is available for students of any participating institution of higher learning. Students at participating schools may purchase a Semester Pass, good for 130 days from first use. The cost of the Semester Pass is $130. Passes are for students only (no faculty/staff) and must be purchased at the school. You may be required to show a valid student ID along with your semester pass when you board the bus.

Institutions interested in participating in the Semester Pass program can contact KAT using the Contact Us form for more information on how to enroll in the program.

Special Note for Pellissippi State (Hardin Valley campus) students: CAC has partnered with KAT to provide transportation between the Pellissippi Hardin Valley Campus and Knoxville Station, allowing you to take a regular KAT bus to Knoxville Station and then use CAC to get to campus, at no additional charge, using your KAT semester pass. KAT offers Paratransit LIFT service for those persons who are unable to use regular fixed-route buses. The LIFT is by reservation only, and you must be certified by KAT to use the service. All LIFT passengers must re-apply every two years in order to keep their certification current. The LIFT handbook contains detailed information on using the service. Anyone wishing to apply for LIFT certification should read the handbook prior to filling out an application.

Download PDF version of the handbook.

A few tips: Trips must be scheduled by 4 p.m. the day before service is required. In order to ensure your trip is arranged as close as possible to your desired schedule, we recommend at least 7 days advance notice. Trips may be booked up to 14 days in advance. On the day of your trip, be ready several minutes early and have your fare ready. The cost for the service is $3.00 each way ($6.00 round-trip).
