KAT's K2 Proposal for Route Changes

The KTA (Knoxville Transportation Authority) approved the K2 Plan as proposed, with the following changes:

--A "Plan B" for South Knoxville services: in the event that a superstop location is not found, then Routes 40 and 45 will depart at :15 after the hour from Knoxville Station instead of top and bottom of the hour as originally proposed.

--A 20-Ride pass was included as a new fare-media type.

--An amendment to the semester pass called for an introductory fare of $90, which would be available from August 2013 through January 31, 2014. After that time, the cost will go to $130.

You may download complete details about the plan here.

The route changes are scheduled for implementation on June 3, 2013, with the new fare types going into effect in August 2013. The K2 plan was approved as a demonstration project for one year.

UT Semester Pass Program Ends May 31

As a reminder to UT students, faculty and staff, UT semester passes will no longer be valid in KAT fareboxes, effective June 1, 2013, regardless of when they were purchased. After May 1, if you need to purchase a pass, we suggest you purchase a 30-day pass, which is available at Knoxville Station's Customer Information Counter or available by mail-in order via the website. Coming in August will be a 20-Ride pass for $25, and we will be working with The University of Tennessee on a new semester pass program for students.
